How long does a tyre fitting take?

How often should I have my wheels balanced and aligned?
As a general guide, have your wheels balanced whenever you fit new tyres and re-checked if you feel vibration through the steering wheel. Alignment should be checked at least once a year, or straight away if your car pulls to one side, your steering feels off-centre, or you notice uneven tread wear. Correct alignment protects your tyres and improves fuel economy.
Can a puncture always be repaired?
Not always. A puncture in the central tread area can usually be repaired safely, but damage to the sidewall, large cuts, or a tyre driven on while flat often cannot be repaired to a safe standard. What is the legal minimum tread depth in the UK?
The legal minimum tread depth for cars in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tread. Many motoring experts recommend replacing tyres at around 3mm for much better wet-weather grip and shorter stopping distances.
